Excerpt from the book: Cleaner, Better, More Resilient

In his article "A programme for the future: moving into the post-Corona era", Olaf Scholz outlines the major challenges facing German and European politics. In addition to current crises, our time is marked by three global megatrends that will shape the decades to come: a global shift of power - also in the economic sphere - towards Asia with the rise of China and India; the urgent need to slow down man-made climate change and limit it as much as possible; and digitalisation, which will profoundly change the way we live and produce.

"For me" Scholz writes, "it is therefore quite clear that we need a new strategic industrial policy. A policy that formulates specific innovation goals and aligns both the regulatory framework and state support to them We need a programme for the future in 2030 with clear objectives ideally embedded in a European agenda for tackling the major challenges of our time. Government has to play a crucial role here. After all basic government research, extensive R&D funding and very good public networks and infrastructures are necessary conditions for successful entrepneurial innovations..."
